IXI Danza’s Program for October

Dear friends,

As we cross over the half-year mark since the birth of IXI Danza, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have lent your support in one form or another. We look forward to your continuing support and will most certainly aim to serve the Tango community even better in the future.

Here is IXI Danza’s program for October, see also our :ixical:

1. Classes:

The next round of (4 x 2 hrs) Beginners series will commence in the week starting Monday 2 October. Registrations will close on 30 September. Please register early so that we can ensure a balanced number of men and women.

Beginners 1:
Time: Every Monday 8-10pm for 4 weeks (2/10 - 23/10), starting Monday 2 October.
Cost: SG$140 per person (SG$120 for full-time students).

Beginners 2:
Time: Every Wednesday 8-10pm for 4 weeks (4/10 - 25/10), starting Wednesday 4 October.
Cost: SG$140 per person (SG$120 for full-time students).

2. Socials:

Milonga: Saturdays 7 and 21 October, 9pm-2am. Mark your calendar!

Tea Dance: Sundays 1, 15 and 29 October, 1pm-5pm. Dance in a relaxed atmosphere and have tea/snacks with your fellow Tango friends before heading back to work on Monday!

** Come on 1st October and meet with the exhausted people who just came back from the Taipei Tango Festival to find out about their experiences!

Practica: join in the hard-working groups every Tuesday and Thursday, 8pm-11pm. This is a good chance to brush up your leading/following skills in preparation for the Milonga. Our instructors are always on hand if you have questions.

** Please note that there will be no practicas on 21 and 26 September (away for Taipei Tango Festival), and 24 October (public holiday).

3. Other news

- Milonga con Amigos, the first grand milonga for 2006 proudly brought to you by IXI Danza and friends

Date : November 18th, 7.30pm - 1am.
Venue : Heliconia Room, Serangoon Gardens Country Club
Address : 22 Kensington Park Road (S) 557271 (Just a 5 minute walk from Chomp Chomp Hawker Centre).
Dress code : formal.
Early bird special : $40 per person by 29 October.

The Argentinian teachers Fernanda and Guillermo will be visiting Singapore 18-23/Oct. Please check back at :tangosg: for the detailed program.

IXI Danza’s Program for September

Dear friends,

Here is a snapshot of IXI Danza’s program for September, see our :ixical:.

1. Classes:

The next round of (4 x 2 hrs) Beginners 1 classes will run from 2 September - 30 September. There will be a break on 23 September. Please register early so that we can ensure a balanced number of guys and ladies. Due to popular request, we will hold another session on close-embrace dancing. Read on for more details.

Beginners 1:
Time: Every Saturday 1-3pm for 4 weeks (2/9, 9/9, 16/9, 30/9), starting Saturday 2 September.
Cost: SG$140 per person (SG$120 for full-time students).

Introduction to Close-embrace (Instructors: Louis/Janet)
Time: Saturday 9 September
- Session 1 (3.30-4.30pm): Types of embrace and how to move in unison.
- Session 2 (5-6pm): Typical close-embrace steps.
Prerequisites: Completion of our Beginners 2 classes, or the equivalent of 6 months’ dance experience.
Cost: $20 per session or $15 per session for past students of IXI Danza (attended classes within last 6 months).

** Note that priority will be given to current students in Beginners 2 classes.

2. Social:

Milonga: Saturdays 2 and 16 September, 9pm-2am. Mark your calendar!

Tea Dance: Sunday 10 September, 1pm-5pm. Dance in a relaxed atmosphere and have tea/snacks with your fellow Tango friends before heading back to work on Monday!

3. Other news

Visit of “Gato Valdez and Andrea Monti”, organized by :tangosg:.

The Argentinian teachers Gato and Andrea will be visiting Singapore in the next two weeks. Workshops will be held on 21 August and 2-3 September. Please check back at :tangosg: for the detailed program and register early.

Taipei Tango Festival

A number of local Tangueros and Tangueras (look up our FAQ for the meanings of these terms!) will be attending the 4th annual Taipei Tango Festival from 21-25 September. This means that there will be no practicas on 21 September (Thursday) and 26 September (Tuesday). Feel free to come and talk to us to find out about the festival when we come back. We are certainly very excited!
